Gone Skiing!

Last weekend Brad and I went to Snowshoe, WV with Dave Harris, Johanna Hamilton, and Elizabeth Blackburn for a weekend of skiing. Well, everyone else skiied. I'm not sure what you would call what I did! Here is Brad in his yellow mittens!

Our condo was awesome! You can't put a price on fun...okay, maybe you can. The condo was virtually brand new and quite pricey. But it was right on the slopes, and really, really nice. (We stayed in Expedition Station for anyone familiar with Snowshoe Resort.)

Monkeying around inside after the slopes closed. I am surprised at how early the place shut down. We were there the first weekend of night skiing, but that meant after 5 PM you had to travel to the "Silver Creek" slopes down the road because all the other slopes closed. Even then, the night skiing ended at 9:30! We still found a way to have a good time.

Here I am in the master bathroom, which was also really nice. About the only way to get a picture of myself on this blog is to take it myself!

Dave and Jo trying to capture all the memories.

The last day we were there, a winter storm was blowing in (too little, too late). However, it made the drive home interesting. Here we are saying goodbye to Elizabeth at the gas station. It was VERY windy and VERY cold.

We couldn't even get Brad to turn on the heat in the new car! Just kidding. Dave, you're such a kidder!

What a view!

Saying Goodbye to an Old Friend

So Brad finally did it. On a near whim, we drove to Memphis, TN to purchase a 2006 Infiniti G35. Here Brad is getting out of his trusty old Corolla for the last time. How sad :( The car actually looked pretty good since Brad had given it a rare interior clean-up before trading it in.

However, the tears dried quickly in his new luxury sedan!

Happy driving!

We didn't get to stay and see the sights of Memphis. We were virtually unprepared for anything more than driving to the car lot. However, we did make a quick drive by of Graceland, (I think!)

To Infiniti and Beyond

Brad and I went to the Infiniti dealership in Nashville yesterday to start looking for Brad's new car. We looked at the G35 sedans, from model year 2003 to 2007. My favorite was the dark blue sport edition seen in the picture above. We test drove a 2007, and it was really nice, but the dealer's quote was more than the infiniti.com website MSRP for a brand new 2008! Although we are both looking forward to getting a new vehicle, I don't think either of us is ready for the used car buying experience!

The Great Outdoors (11-2-07)

This weekend we went camping and mountain biking at Land Between the Lakes with a couple of friends from school.

We had found this great backwoods camp site off the canal loop hike/bike trail the week before during a day hike. The site sits on the eastern coast of Kentucky Lake and was going to be an awesome spot to spend the weekend. Unfortunately, we set out too late on Friday and lost daylight as we searched a "short cut" to the site. We ended up wandering around some random field off the 103 in the pitch black carrying about 30 lbs of camp gear each and finally decided that the best spot for our weekend in the great outdoors was exactly where our feet were.

It sure was cold!

Good thing we had several "items" to keep us warm!

It ended up being a nice spot, although we're not sure how "legal" it was! And even more fun, the next morning we ran into a father-son hunting team who informed us it was youth hunting weekend and politely advised us that we should be wearing orange if we wanted to hang around this field!

Saturday morning, Carrie went mountain biking for the first time with David while Brad and Chris still slept. Biking downhill was great fun! Biking uphill was not so much fun. Carrie started out walking her bike as much as riding it, but by the end of the morning, she had gotten used to how to properly work the gears and was able to sucessfully stay on the bike! Carrie had decided that one night in the (cold) wilderness was enough and headed for the comforts of home while Brad, David and Chris stayed on for more mountain biking.

Brad's first experience mountain biking was a little different from Carrie's. ~Stay tuned for an account of Brad's experiences on the trail~

Welcome to Brad and Carrie's blog!

A few months ago, we graduated from college, and that's when all the adventures began! No longer tied down to books and block exams, we are finally free to do fun and exciting things. Because every day brings something new, we've decided it's time to share our shenanigans with you. Welcome to our blog!

Hopefully, we'll be able to keep you up to date with the day-to-day play-by-play. Thanks, Evan, for the inspiration!
